We have scheduled an upgrade to Symphony 3.5.2.1 on Tuesday, May 2 (2 weeks from today). SirsiDynix Support will start the process at 1:30 AM that morning, so the upgrade on the server side should be complete by the time libraries open.

Once the upgrade is complete, each WorkFlows client on each workstation will need to be upgraded. This will be done using the same process we have gone through several times before. Instructions are attached.

Usually, there are a handful of workstations throughout the system where the upgrade does not take because of local folder permission settings, which our tech staff can correct.

Since we changed from the http:// to the https:// site in SmarterMail, we’ve heard from a couple of libraries that had been using some, let us say, unconventional methods to get to the SmarterMail login screen. The recommended methods are:

1) From RCLS site. Use the “SmarterMail login” link on the RCLS home page, under the menu system options Services->Elec. Resources

2) Bookmarks. Type in the URL: https://mail.rcls.org/Login.aspx and get to the Login screen. Then create a new Bookmark. In FireFox this is done by clicking on the empty star icon in the upper right of the browser. You can now access that screen from the Bookmarks option.

3) Desktop Icon. Copy the URL https://mail.rcls.org/Login.aspx to the clipboard (highlight and hit CTRL-C). Then, on a blank area of your Windows desktop, right click and select New->Shortcut. Paste the URL in the box for Location and then hit Next. Give it a name, SmarterMail.

or 4) Browser home page. If you use SmarterMail frequently, you might set it as the default page you see whenever the browser is opened. Go the SmarterMail login screen. Then under Firefox’s Tools-Options look at Startup. You can set Home Page to be SmarterMail by clicking on Use Current Page.

Hi all,

A patron alerted us to the fact that the closed captioning for this animated, two-DVD set doesn’t match the dialogue. We checked it out for ourselves, and lo and behold, it’s for something else entirely and not suitable for young ones.

Perhaps our copies were just hacked in some way, but if you own it, you might want to take a look.
