Our Children's Department provides our youngest patrons a welcoming, safe environment
where they may play games, explore, study, read, be read to and grow. We provide many children's programs for toddlers to tweens, from storytime to book clubs. Age-appropriate materials and technological equipment such as our early literacy stations, iPads, and more are available for use. For assistance, our staff will be more than happy to help!

PageTurners is back this Summer with a whole new adventure - The Animal Adventures Summer Reading Program!

Each week this summer, we will post new videos that include comedy shows, children’s book author interviews, virtual field trips, guest performers, contests, games, recipes and arts and crafts projects.

Week 5 - Show Day

Show Day - Safari Stories

What animal eats upside down? Can you pronk like a springbok? What animals never fart? These questions and more will be answered during Sofa Safari, the interactive game show that takes you on a safari without leaving your sofa!

Craft Day - Flashlight Safari

A zip lock bag, black and white construction paper, and permanent markers are all that’s needed to make this project that’s part craft and part optical illusion.

Juggling Workshop!

Pageturners presents Juggling Workshop!. Learn to juggle with Kenny Mikey, a former Ringling Bros. clown! Kenny will teach you the five “Ps” of juggling: Patience, Persistence, Practice, Positive Attitude.

You’ll start by juggling scarves, then learn to make your own juggling balls. No scarves? No problem! You can use plastic grocery bags. And the balls are made from balloons and birdseed. You’ll have “ball” in this fun, interactive workshop.

Virtual Storytelling

For ages 5-12 and their families. Storyteller Donna Washington's performance will be on-demand all week!

Donna Washington is a multiple award winning recording artist and storyteller. Donna has performed at thousands of schools & libraries and numerous storytelling festivals throughout the country. She also offers workshops in storytelling, writing, education, and creative drama for librarians and educators as well. These days you can find her traveling the country at festivals, conferences, schools, & libraries telling stories & giving workshops for anyone who is willing to listen to her.

The Kennedy Center’s first-ever Education Artist-in-Residence, Mo Willems, invites YOU into his studio every day for his LUNCH DOODLES.
